We grow sunflowers for cut flowers at farmer's markets. We grow several varieties. They are all multi-flowering types. As the seeds can be rather expensive, I've tried saving my own seed. It isn't as easy as it may seem, as the birds (especially Goldfinches) really like these seeds. Any seed heads I didn't cover were cleaned out in just a few days.

I also don't have the room to keep the seed variaties as isolated as commercial growers do. Because of that, many of the seeds I've saved in the past were not totally true to type. For anyone that bought sunflower seeds from me in the past and didn't get quite what they wanted, I apologise.

Because the birds like them so much, they make a great "living" bird feeder. They also make a great, colorful fence or screen.

Most of my seed has low germination at this time so I took this page down.

I do have neew seed from last summer drying, but it won't be ready for a while.

I'm having a bit of a problem right now with my main email account. If you get a "bounced" email message from my contact links, here is an alternate email that should get thru to me.
